This project’s subject reports may be used a guide for the oil and gas industry to identify the placement of alternate products behind casing and to enhance well integrity through a well’s entire lifecycle.

A suite of existing cased hole logging tools, along with proven tracer methods, can be applied to identify the placement of virtually any type of alternate product behind casing. The report titled ‘Methods to Identify Product Placement Behind Pipe’ describes the technologies and procedures that can be utilized for this purpose. There are proven procedures which can be followed from initial drilling through the lifecycle of a well, including decommissioning/abandonment/closure, which will help maximize integrity of a wellbore. The report called ‘Drilling and Primary Cementing Best Practices for Well Integrity’ describes most of these basic procedures for land wells.

The ongoing development of technologies to enhance well integrity is very important. In particular, the development, validation and testing of alternate products is strongly recommended for well remediation, well closure, and for specific drilling applications.
