Description

Our diverse technical program will offer updates on current Alberta Upstream Petroleum Research Fund (AUPRF) projects and emerging environmental regulations pertaining to the assessment, remediation and reclamation of Upstream Oil and Gas assets at the end of its live cycle.

The Forum has broad participation from many sectors and facilitates multidisciplinary collaboration. It promotes knowledge sharing and exchange of success stories/challenges faced by industry, government, regulators and researchers.

This is an excellent platform to learn about knowledge gaps and regulatory drivers that are being addressed through the AUPRF Program. The learnings and outcomes of AUPRF projects translate in significant benefit to industry, government and the public. PTAC offers a multi-stakeholder approach through the AUPRF program and:

  • Supports collaboration with AESRD/AER and Industry to implement smart change,
  • Demonstrates due diligence based on risk & science,
  • Influences guideline development and creating best practices,
  • Addresses future risks based on science, e.g. potential future guideline changes, and
  • Reduces environmental costs for the broader Upstream Industry

Recent AUPRF projects supported the development of science based guidelines, such as Barite Guidelines (Broad), Modified Salinity Guidelines (SST), Modified PHC Management Limits (Public Lands) and Boron Guidelines (Pending).

This forum will be of interest to oil and gas industry stakeholders who would like to learn more about emerging environmental issues and advances in soil and groundwater remediation research.
